A3 Hindhead Tunnel Improvements – Planned Closures

From Highways England:

As part of the ongoing works please see below planned closures for next week. Work will involve routine tunnel maintenance including electrical checks, tunnel wash down and crack sealing repairs and painting.

We will also have the following overnight closures in place next week.

  • Monday 8 March 2021 for five nights the southbound tunnel will be closed with contraflow in place on the northbound tunnel.
  • Sunday 14 March 2021 full closure to the northbound tunnel between 9pm to 6am, a clearly signed diversion will be in place in both directions via, A325, B3004, A31, A31 Hogs Back. We will also have a signed diversion from Petersfield via A32, A32 and A272

Please note we have future closures planned and will update you weekly, and that the works may be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. We’ll advertise closure on yellow signs placed in advance alongside the road.

UPDATE: A3 Hindhead Tunnel Improvements to Technology – Planned Closures

Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances our planned full closure for 9 January did not take place, therefore there will be a full overnight closure of the tunnel in both directions on Saturday 16 January 2021 between the hours 9pm – 6am – a clearly signed diversion will be in place, traffic will be diverted via A31 Hogs back, the A31, B3004 and the A325.

As part of the ongoing work to upgrade the technology within the Hindhead Tunnel, we will have the below closures in place commencing Monday 18 January 2021.

  • 15, 17, 18, January 2021 the northbound tunnel will be closed with contraflow in place on the southbound tunnel between the hours 9pm to 6am.
  • Tuesday 19 January 2021 for four nights the southbound tunnel will be closed with contraflow in place on the northbound tunnel between the hours 9pm to 6am.

Park Run at the Punchbowl. Call for Volunteers.

PARK RUN AT THE PUNCHBOWL

nb-park_runThe National Trust are interested in setting up a Park Run at The Punch Bowl, Hindhead.  A fantastic setting and these 5 km runs would happen every Saturday morning at 9am.
Haslemere Border Athletic Club are willing to form the initial bedrock of runners as this Park Run starts up and grows, but we need two or three volunteers to provide the drive to get the project up and running.

Parkrun organise free, weekly, 5km timed runs around the world. They are open to everyone, free, and are safe and easy to take part in.  There are currently 420 locations with 1,089,490 runners signed up. The average run time is 27:47 minutes for the 5km.

These events take place in pleasant parkland surroundings and we encourage people of every ability to take part; from those taking their first steps in running to Olympians; from juniors to those with more experience; we welcome you all.  Dogs on leads and off-road prams/buggies are also welcome.
